Britten as a Boy

The internationally acclaimed composer Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) was born in Lowestoft and lived there for the first twenty – one years of his life. His boyhood bedroom window looked out to the North Sea, a source of inspiration throughout his career. The sculpture is the first statue of Britten in the UK and shows him sitting on a rock stack looking out to sea. It was unveiled by Sir John Rutter on the 10th November 2025.
